Reports on Sunday morning suggest Tottenham have agreed a fee with Atletico Madrid for the transfer of Toby Alderweireld.
The Belgium international has been heavily linked with a move to the north London side after he impressed during a loan spell with Southampton last season.
Alderweireld gained a WhoScored rating of 7.07 with Saints in England’s top tier last term, playing a key role in a defence that shipped just 33 goals.
As one would expect, the south coast club were keen to keep him on at St. Mary’s, but Spurs look to have stolen a march on their Premier League rivals in the race for the defender’s signature.
The 26-year-old is now expected to travel to the capital this week to undergo a medical and agree personal terms ahead of his rumoured switch to White Hart Lane.
