Cristiano Ronaldo has entered contract talks with Real Madrid about extending his stay until 2020 amid suggestions he could join Paris Saint-Germain in the future, according to El Confidencial, via AS.
Reports from France had claimed the Madrid superstar met with PSG owner Nasser Al-Khelaifi to discuss a potential summer move, sparking speculation the 31-year-old is looking to leave.
However, these reports have been met with fierce backlash in Spain and it is now being reported that Ronaldo’s relationship with Madrid has strengthened in recent weeks following the changes to their season.
Ronaldo still has more than two years left to run on his current deal but negotiations have reportedly begun for the Portugal international to retire at the Bernebau and extend his current deal by a further two years.
After a slow start to the season, Ronaldo has been in blistering form since the turn of the year. In fact, only Zlatan Ibrahimovic (32) has scored more league goals than Ronaldo (31) across Europe’s top five leagues this season.
