AC Milan have emerged as surprise admirers of Daniel Sturridge and are weighing up a summer move for the Liverpool outcast, reports talkSPORT.
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has refused to speak about Sturridge’s future at the club until the end of the season as the club look to salvage their campaign, although the 27-year-old appears set to leave this summer.
Sturridge has fallen below Roberto Firmino in the pecking order for a place as Liverpool’s lead striker under Jurgen Klopp and, coupled with his fitness woes, has barely featured for the club this season.
It remains to be seen whether Liverpool would be open to selling Sturridge to one of their main rivals in the league, but they could be handed the ideal transfer with Milan eyeing a summer swoop.
Milan may be forced to bolster their offensive options at the end of the season with Carlos Bacca’s future at the club still uncertain.
Of players that have scored at least 25 goals in the Premier League since August 2012, only Sergio Aguero (1 every 109 mins) and Luis Suarez (109.6 mins) have required fewer minutes per goal than Sturridge (126.1 mins).
