Paris Saint-Germain ready to match demands of Manchester United target

Paris Saint-Germain are prepared to match Toby Alderweireld’s £10m-per-season wage demands, reports The Daily Mail.

Alderweireld is expected to leave Tottenham at the end of the season after contract talks with Mauricio Pochettino’s side broke down earlier this year.

The Belgium international has dropped out of favour under Pochettino since then and was not even included in the squad for their 3-1 win over Chelsea on Sunday.

Manchester United and Barcelona have been heavily linked with a move for the 29-year-old since it emerged contract talks with Tottenham had collapsed but PSG are also battling for his signature.

Alderweireld is hoping to command close to £200,000-a-week with his next contract and PSG are willing to match that in order to prise the centre-back to France in the summer.

The Belgian is one of the best defenders in the Premier League but he is no longer considered an indispensible player to Tottenham following Davinson Sanchez’s emergence this season.

No outfielder averages more long balls per game in the Premier League this season than Alderweireld (9.1).
