Arsenal ready to offer key man new deal

Arsenal are ready to offer defender Rob Holding a new contract, according to the Daily Mirror.

The Gunners, who on Tuesday confirmed the free signing of Sead Kolasinac from Schalke 04, only acquired Holding from Bolton last summer, but are prepared to offer him a pay rise following a number of assured performances.

Holding - or Holdini to some quarters of the support - played a key role in the Gunners’ strong end to the season and while they missed out on a top-4 finish, an FA Cup win over Chelsea saw Arsenal finish the campaign on a high.

The 21-year-old will be rewarded for his efforts with a new contract having featured nine times in the Premier League last season, with Arsenal boasting a much better win percentage with Holding starting (77.8%) compared to when he did not (55.2%).

Holding will also feature for the England U21 side this summer in Poland following his call up to the team in what has been a whirlwind 12 months for the young defender.
