No England return for Premier League top scorer Vardy

England manager Gareth Southgate has no plans to recall Jamie Vardy for Euro 2020 at the end of the season, reports The Athletic.

Vardy called time on his international career in August 2018 following frank discussions with Southgate about the future of the national team.

Southgate has made it clear from the outset his vision for England is built around youth and he plans to stick to that for this summer's European Championships.

There have been calls for Southgate to re-consider his stance and draft Vardy back into the squad following his blistering form for Leicester this season.

No England return for Premier League top scorer Vardy

Vardy is currently the top scorer in the Premier League (17) and has played a direct hand in more goals (21) than he has made appearances (20).

Despite the fact Harry Kane is sidelined until April at the very earliest, Vardy does not feature in Southgate's thoughts for the summer.

Marcus Rashford and Tammy Abraham will instead be tasked with leading the line for England if Kane is not fully fit, while Southampton striker Danny Ings is also in the running.
