French giants return to the top of team form rankings

A 4-0 win over Dijon on Tuesday night saw PSG return to the top of the team form rankings in Europe’s top five leagues. Having not played at the weekend after their meeting with Nantes was postponed, the French champions made light work of their Ligue 1 counterparts in a comfortable victory that saw their WhoScored rating rise to 7.21 over the last six matches.

With their rating also the best in Europe’s top five leagues this season, it’s no surprise to see Thomas Tuchel’s side top the form rankings as they focus their efforts on domestic duties following their Champions League exit at the hands of Manchester United last week.

Similarly, Bayern Munich’s 6-0 thumping of Wolfsburg saw their rating increase to 7.20, with the Bavarian powerhouse pipped to top spot, while Bundesliga counterparts Eintracht Frankfurt round off the top three as their 3-0 win on Monday night increased their rating to 7.15.

Conversely, Premier League title favourites Manchester City and Liverpool dropped out of the top three with the duo fourth and fifth, respectively, this coming despite rating increases. Bayer Leverkusen continued their push for a Champions League finish with a narrow 3-2 win over Hannover 96 to keep their place in sixth, while Torino dropped down to seventh as the rating fell to 7.03.

Making up the final two risers are Juventus (7.02) and Marseille (7.01) as the pair make up eighth and ninth in the team form rankings, with Serie A side AC Milan dropping to tenth with a 6.98 rating. The dip in rating comes despite a fifth successive league win, but they face falling out of the top 10 unless they churn out a fine display in Sunday’s Milan derby.
