Premier League round-up: Leicester trio among top Saturday performers
Here we run through the top five WhoScored rated players from Saturday’s Premier League action.
5. Youri Tielemans (Leicester) - 7.97 rating
Youri Tielemans has now scored or assisted in four of his five appearances under Leicester manager Brendan Rodgers after netting in Leicester’s 4-1 win away to relegated Huddersfield. The Foxes are keen to get Tielemans on a permanent deal and will need to act quickly if he continues to turn in eye-catching performances. The 21-year-old also won three tackles against Huddersfield, a personal record in a Premier League game since joining on loan from Monaco in January.
4. Chris Wood (Burnley) - 8.23 rating
Chris Wood helped Burnley come from behind to beat Bournemouth by scoring his eighth league goal of the campaign. The 27-year-old equalised for Burnley in the 18th-minute, netting once from three shots at Dean Court. The Burnley frontman also won two aerial duels, registered two key passes and completed one dribble.
3. Ashley Westwood (Burnley) - 8.42 rating
Burnley midfielder Ashley Westwood played a pivotal role in Burnley’s impressive 3-1 win away to Bournemouth on Saturday, playing a direct hand in two goals. The 29-year-old supplied the assist for Burnley’s equaliser before putting the Clarets in front two minutes later. Westwood has played a direct hand in nine Premier League goals this season, at least three more than in any previous top-flight campaign.
2. James Maddison (Leicester) - 8.92 rating
James Maddison has now scored two goals in his last three league appearances for Leicester, as many as his previous 22 matches combined. Maddison scored a delightful free-kick in Leicester’s rout of Huddersfield, hitting the target with three of his four attempts on goal. Maddison registered more key passes than any other team-mate (three) and impressively completed 95.5% of his passes. Maddison also ranked top for both dribbles completed and fouls won (both four).
1. Jamie Vardy (Leicester) - 9.02 rating
Brendan Rodgers’ arrival as Leicester manager has brought the best out of Jamie Vardy, who has now scored six goals under the former Liverpool boss. Vardy netted twice in a 4-1 win away to Huddersfield on Saturday and finished the day as the highest WhoScored rated player over the three Premier League matches. Vardy had five attempts in total, while also registering three key passes and completing two dribbles.
