Money Makers - Top Tips for Buabook Weekend Match Markets
Ahead of what promises to be a decisive weekend of action in the Premier League, there is plenty to play for at both ends of the table.
We bring you our top tips for gameweek 36 to give you the chance to win real money by signing up to Buabook and playing their match markets. Buabook is the first player trading market that allows you to buy and sell shares in-play. With values based solely on statistics, a player’s fair price will rise and fall live with every positive or negative action he makes in a game.
The biggest profits will be made on goalscorers or defenders who keep a clean sheet, with both feats worth £1.00, but there is plenty more to consider when making your trades. In this piece we’ll run through our tips and the scenarios that would see you make a handsome profit.
WHO TO BUY
Romelu LUKAKU (home vs Bournemouth)
Everton may be in a worrying tailspin at present, with star striker Lukaku struggling for goals, but both will be hopeful of putting that right this weekend. The Toffees have faced the Cherries twice this season, scoring 5 goals, with the Belgian on the scoresheet in both matches. With Eddie Howe’s men comfortably clear of the drop zone, their defence has gone AWOL lately, conceding 16 goals in their last 6 games, so buying shares in Lukaku seems wise despite his poor run of late.
Buy south of £0.75 with a goal for Lukaku earning £1.00 and almost certain to secure a profit.
Andros TOWNSEND (home vs Crystal Palace)
Newcastle are fighting for their lives at the foot of the table and the fans will be desperate to get one over on Alan Pardew’s Palace this weekend. Andros Townsend has made the biggest impact of the January signings at St. James’ Park, scoring three times and registering two assists, and will be confident of testing the Eagles’ defence this weekend. Indeed, the visitors’ two biggest statistical weakness according to WhoScored are ‘defending against skilful players’ and ‘defending against long shots.
Buy at £0.40 a share and with assists worth £0.60, shots on target worth £0.06 and a clean sheet for midfielders worth £0.30, Townsend should have ample opportunities to earn a profit.
Ashley WILLIAMS (home vs Liverpool)
Although Swansea are another side that could be accused of losing focus having secured survival, their record at home is still strong of late, with 4 wins from 6 at the Liberty. All of said victories have been by a 1-0 scoreline, and while the visit of Liverpool may have looked daunting some weeks back, circumstances have changed. Jurgen Klopp is set to field a very young side in Wales with the Reds’ second leg of their Europa League semi-final in mind, so the hosts should be confident of another clean sheet.
It’s been another impressive season for Ashley Williams, and the fact that Swansea face Liverpool may mean he is undervalued in Buabook’s match market. I’d buy shares between £0.30 and £0.40, in which case a clean sheet would be sure to secure a handsome profit.
Shane LONG (home vs Manchester City)
Still in with a chance of a top 6 finish, it’s fair to say that Southampton may well be more focused on this weekend than their visitors. Manchester City have a massive game in Madrid to prepare for next week and are sure to rest players, so Shane Long will be confident of extending his impressive run of form. The Irishman has 4 goals and 4 assists to his name in his last 8 appearances and scored in the reverse fixture between these sides earlier in the season.
Buy shares in Long around the £0.60 mark as he should have a good chance of posing real problems to an altered City backline.
Jermain DEFOE (away vs Stoke)
Sunderland are another side that are improving now that the pressure is well and truly on and they will fancy their chances against a Stoke side that has conceded 4 goals in each of their last 3 matches. The Black Cats continue to struggle to find the net but have an attack line suited to playing on the counter away from home, particularly in the form of Defoe. The veteran striker has scored 10 of his 13 goals this season on the road, including each of his last 7 since the turn of the year.
While Defoe has a good chance of scoring at the Britannia I’d only buy at around £0.55 as he rarely offers much else in general play so has very few opportunities to gain value elsewhere in Buabook’s match markets.
WHO TO SELL
Joleon LESCOTT (away vs Watford)
It’s fair to say Lescott’s dream of playing for boyhood club Aston Villa has turned into an absolute nightmare. While Watford are out of form themselves and struggling for goals, their visitors’ this weekend have been defending in such a calamitous manner that a clean sheet seems a near impossibility, no matter who they face.
The Hornets may take time to get going following their cup heartache last week, which would see Lescott’s chances of a clean sheet and his value rise in turn. Therefore I’d wait until the 30-minute mark, hoping Villa haven’t conceded, and sell shares in the former England international north of £0.30 if that is the case.
Dieumerci MBOKANI (away vs Arsenal)
Norwich are in the most worrying form of the teams fighting to avoid the drop, so while Arsenal have been underwhelming themselves, a trip to the Emirates is far from ideal. The Gunners will be keen to ensure a Champions League berth and ideally finish in third to avoid the qualifying rounds. Norwich, meanwhile, have scored just once in their last 6 away matches, while only one of top scorer Mbokani’s 5 goals this season has come away from Carrow Road, way back in October.
Norwich may well try to keep things tight but could struggle to create chances in the process, so I’d sell shares in Mbokani from the off at around £0.40, with strikers losing £0.20 off their value if they fail to score in a game.
