Tottenham star one of two perfect 10s in European best XI
Goalkeeper: Bartlomiej Dragowski (Empoli) - 10.0 rating
The more said about Bartlomiej Dragowski’s performance on Monday night, the better, unless you're an Atalanta fan, of course.. The Polish shotstopper was unbelievable in Empoli’s 0-0 draw at Atalanta, where the home side had a whopping 47 shots, 18 of which were on target. Dragowski, though, saved everything that came his way, mustering 17 saves, as the 21-year-old landed a perfect WhoScored 10 rating.
Right-back: Joshua Kimmich (Bayern Munich) - 8.63 rating
The first of two Bayern players to make the cut, Joshua Kimmich notched his 11th league assist of the season in their 4-1 win at Fortuna Duesseldorf, with the 24-year-old chipping in with seven key passes from right-back. Defensively, too, Kimmich impressed as he made one tackle and one interception to return a WhoScored rating of 8.63.
Centre-back: Willy Boly (Wolves) - 8.71 rating
Wolves may have fallen to a 3-1 loss at Southampton on Saturday, but Willy Boly still put in a fine showing on the south coast. His WhoScored rating was a respectable 8.71 as he netted Wolves’ consolation goal, while seven clearances, five tackles and three interceptions rounded off a solid display from the Frenchman.
Centre-back: Kalidou Koulibaly (Napoli) - 8.66 rating
Partnering Boly at the heart of the defence is Napoli ace Kalidou Koulibaly, who scored his first and second league goals of the season in their 3-1 win at Chievo in a man of the match display from the Senegal star. His brace came from two shots as five aerial duels won, five clearances and a 91.7% pass success rate from 84 passes landed him a WhoScored rating of 8.66.
Left-back: Pierrick Capelle (Angers) - 8.68 rating
Pierrick Capelle has registered three assists in Ligue 1 this season, two of which have come in his last two appearances. The defender put in a man of the match display at Caen, with his assist for Jeff Reine-Adelaide’s goal decisive in a 1-0 win. Capelle’s assist came from three key passes, while four clearances, four interceptions, two tackles and two successful dribbles landed him a WhoScored rating of 8.68.
Right midfield: Nicolas Pepe (Lille) - 9.18 rating
Nicolas Pepe earned his fourth WhoScored man of the match award from his last five league outings as Lille delayed PSG’s title celebrations with a resounding 5-1 win on Sunday night. The Ivorian had a direct hand in three of their five goals, scoring from one of three shots and provided two assists from three key passes. Three successful dribbles, too, saw Pepe land a WhoScored rating of 9.18.
Central midfield: Kevin De Bruyne (Manchester City) - 9.31 rating
Registering his first and second Premier League assists of the season after his return from injury, Kevin De Bruyne looks back to his best in a Manchester City shirt having had a direct hand in two of City’s three goals in their 3-1 win over Crystal Palace. The 27-year-old, who rose to second in the Premier League player form rankings, made six key passes in the victory at Selhurst Park as he return a WhoScored rating of 9.31.
Central midfield: Dan Gosling (Bournemouth) - 9.04 rating
Bournemouth made light work of relegation fodder Brighton at the weekend, landing a comfortable 5-0 win at the AMEX. Dan Gosling scored one of the five goals on the south coast, hitting the back of the net with one of three shots, while defensively he impressed too as he made eight tackles and two interceptions to garner a WhoScored rating of 9.04.
Left midfield: Kingsley Coman (Bayern Munich) - 9.16 rating
Rounding off the midfield with a WhoScored rating of 9.16 is Bayern’s young French winger Kingsley Coman. The 22-year-old netted two of Bayern’s four goals at the weekend, his brace coming from four shots. An additional four successful dribbles and one key passes capped a fine showing for the Bundesliga powerhouse.
Striker: Inaki Williams (Athletic Club) - 9.50 rating
Inaki William has been in good form of late, having a direct hand in six goals in his last five league outings, netting five. A brace at the weekend in Athletic Club’s 3-2 win over Rayo Vallecano took his total for the season to 12 as the 24-year-old mustered three shots, four successful dribble and two key passes in a fine individual performance.
Striker: Lucas Moura (Tottenham) - 10.0 rating
Completing this XI this week, and the second perfect 10 to make the grade, is Tottenham’s Lucas Moura. The Brazilian gave head coach Mauricio Pochettino a timely reminder of his goalscoring quality with a hat-trick in Spurs’ 4-0 win over Huddersfield. In addition, the 26-year-old completed two dribbles and made four tackles in a fine showing against the Terriers.
