Yahoo! Fantasy Football: Liverpool to hammer defenceless West Ham
WhoScored.com have partnered up with Yahoo! Fantasy Football to provide fans with the ultimate tipping guide ahead of Saturday’s Premier League fixtures.
It’s the final weekend before the international break and the last time to earn some cash prizes for a fortnight, so follow us closely.
For the second week running, our Twitter fans have voted for Mohamed Salah to fill the final position in our Yahoo XI. With Liverpool set to face a West Ham side without a recognised defence, we are confident he will take the Hammers to the cleaners on Saturday.
Before running through the rest of our XI, make sure you use the sign-up promocode ‘Fantasy50’ to get £50 in return when you deposit £5 into your account!
We are playing for a prize pool of £5,000 this weekend, so make sure you enter to have a chance of winning big!
Goalkeeper – JONAS LOSSL (HUDDERSFIELD)
Huddersfield were unable to follow up their shock win over Manchester United last weekend, but David Wagner’s side should be confident of picking up points at home to a poor West Brom side on Saturday.
The Baggies are winless in nine and have failed to score in two of their last three away matches. Jonas Lossl has already kept four clean sheets this season and looks well primed to keep another here.
Defender – VIRGIL VAN DIJK (SOUTHAMPTON)
It’s been a mixed season for Virgil van Dijk but the Southampton defender is at least turning in the kind of performances that made him one of the best-recognised defenders in the Premier League. The 26-year-old is a Yahoo! Top-20 form player and has played a key part in Southampton’s three-match unbeaten run.
Southampton and Burnley’s Premier League matches have overseen the fewest amount of goals this season so it’s difficult to find value in offensive positions for these two teams. It’s because of this that you should look to the Southampton defender.
Defender – CHRISTOPHER SCHINDLER (HUDDERSFIELD)
Christopher Schindler was Huddersfield’s play-off hero back in May and their once club-record signing has made a stellar start to life in the Premier League. The 27-year-old is one of the top rated centre-backs in England’s top flight (7.36) and has featured in every single minute of league action thus far.
Only three players average more clearances per game than the Huddersfield defender (8.5), who will also be targeting a clean sheet bonus against West Brom on Saturday.
Defender – ALBERTO MORENO (LIVERPOOL)
It all looked over for Alberto Moreno last season as far as his Liverpool career was concerned after James Milner was preferred at left-back, but the Spaniard has made a stunning resurgence under Jurgen Klopp this term.
No player has registered more assists in the Champions League than Moreno (3) this term and he should have acres of space to charge into against West Ham on Saturday to transition some of that stellar form into the Premier League.
Midfielder – JAMES MILNER (LIVERPOOL)
After starting the season out of the team, Milner is finally getting a run of games together in his favoured midfield role. The former England international is set to play again on Saturday with Georginio Wijnaldum sidelined and, with a big win on the cards for Liverpool, the 31-year-old should be looking to get in on the act. He has three assists in his last four appearances for the Reds.
Midfielder – JONJO SHELVEY (NEWCASTLE)
The fiery 25-year-old appears to have won back Rafa Benitez’s faith and the Newcastle manager will be leaning on the England midfielder to fire the Magpies back to winning ways when they host strugglers Bournemouth on Saturday.
It was defeat in their last outing against Burnley, but Shelvey was by far and away their best player on the pitch and his range of passing should mean it’s only a matter of time before he starts to become influential in the attacking third.
Midfielder – AARON MOOY (HUDDERSFIELD)
Huddersfield’s best moments in their maiden Premier League campaign have usually resolved around star midfielder Aaron Mooy and David Wagner will be hoping for some more magic as the Terriers look to enter the international break on a high.
The 27-year-old has played a direct hand in three goals in nine league starts this season and currently averages an impressive 7.5 Yahoo! Points per Premier League game this season. For Huddersfield to overcome West Brom this weekend, don’t be surprised if Mooy is the man to break the deadlock.
Midfielder – PASCAL GROß (BRIGHTON)
One of the bargains of the season, Pascal Groß has enjoyed a sensational campaign for Brighton and has already emerged as their key player in their bid to beat the drop.
The 26-year-old has played a direct hand in 70% of Brighton’s Premier League goals this season, while only David Silva and Kevin de Bruyne (both 6) have provided more assists than Groß in England’s top tier (5).

Utility – MOHAMED SALAH (LIVERPOOL)
Many questioned whether Liverpool had overspent when they shelled out in the region of £40m to sign Mohamed Salah over the summer, but they couldn’t have been more wrong.
The Egypt international has played a direct hand in 13 goals in 16 matches for Liverpool in all competitions and should have no problem adding to that against a West Ham side that could be without up to six defenders this weekend.
Striker – DANIEL STURRIDGE (LIVERPOOL)
Daniel Sturridge may not have a Liverpool future beyond the end of the season, but he has often been afforded game time in matches directly after Liverpool’s involvement in the Champions League. With Philippe Coutinho a huge doubt, there could be room for the 28-year-old to start at the London Stadium after coming off the bench to score in midweek.
The Liverpool striker has two goals in eight Premier League appearances this term and will be confident of adding to that tally against West Ham’s makeshift defence. Sturridge has a good record against the Hammers, scoring five times in seven league appearances.
Striker - GLENN MURRAY (BRIGHTON)
With Groß in our XI, it would be silly to leave out Brighton’s top scorer Glenn Murray. In fact, only two assist to goalscorer combinations have linked up for more goals than Gross and Murray (2) in the Premier League thus far.
Murray has secured successive WhoScored Man of the Match awards after scoring all three of his Premier League goals in Brighton’s last two matches. He is a Yahoo! Top-20 form player and you have to take advantage of the 34-year-old in this moment.
