Youth Watch: Savio ranked Europe's top teen after stunning Girona display

 

In Youth Watch this week, stars from Barcelona, Besiktas, Feyenoord and Fiorentina all make the top 10 best performing teens across Europe. However, it's a Girona sensation who claims top spot after a player of the match showing against Rayo Vallecano. 

 

10. Pau Cubarsi (Barcelona) - 7.58 vs Getafe 

 

Given the nod at centre-back against Getafe, Pau Cubarsi put in a solid shift as Barcelona beat Getafe 4-0 at the weekend. The 17-year-old returned a WhoScored rating of 7.58, enough to make the La Liga team of the week, having made nine clearances in the resounding victory.

9. Semih Kilicsoy (Besiktas) - 7.79 vs Istanbulspor 

 

Featuring once again, Semih Kilicsoy scored his ninth league goal of the season as Besiktas claimed a 2-0 win at Istanbulspor on Sunday. Kilicsoy netted with one of four shots, and made one key pass and one successful dribble to land a WhoScored rating of 7.79. 

 

8. Gustavo Sa (Famalicao) - 8.03 vs Arouca 

 

Famalicao fell to a 3-2 loss at Arouca over the weekend but the match marked another solid showing from Gustavo Sa. Sa netted his second league goal of the season in the defeat from one of two shots and made three tackles and two interceptions in his best rated performance of the campaign. 

 

7. Christian Mawissa (Toulouse) - 8.28 vs Lille 

 

Christian Mawissa put in a player of the match performance as Toulouse beat high-flying Lille 3-1. The 18-year-old scored his second league goal of the season in the victory, netting with his only shot, and got forward well, completing two dribbles and making one key pass. An additional five tackles helped Mawissa to a WhoScored rating of 8.28. 

 

6. Luka Romero (Almeria) - 8.32 vs Atletico Madrid 

 

La Liga footers Almeria claimed an impressive point against Atletico Madrid over the weekend with Luka Romero marking his first start for the Spanish side with a brace. The on-loan Argentine struck with two of four shots and completed two dribbles in a player of the match outing. 

 

5. Yankuba Minteh (Feyenoord) - 8.46 vs Almere City FC 

 

Yankuba Minteh shone from the bench as Feyenoord defeated Almere City FC 2-0 at the Yanmar Stadion on Sunday. Minteh was introduced on the hour mark and went on to score with both shots in the victory. Two aerial duels won, one key pass and one successful dribble saw the winger land a WhoScored rating of 8.46. 

 

4. Michael Kayode (Fiorentina) - 8.46 vs Lazio 

 

Like Minteh, Michael Kayode also earned a WhoScored rating of 8.46 as Fiorentina came from behind to beat Lazio. Kayode picked the perfect game to score his first league goal of the season, while his hard work off the ball helped the Viola to victory. 

 

3. Isaac Babadi (PSV) - 8.49 vs PEC Zwolle 

 

PSV smashed PEC Zwolle 7-1 at the weekend and while Isaac Babadi didn't contribute to a goal, it wasn't for want of trying. The 18-year-old managed three key passes and two shots, and managed five successful dribbles, in a fine showing. 

 

2. Ruben van Bommel (AZ Alkmaar) - 8.59 vs Ajax 

 

The son of Mark van Bommel netted twice as AZ beat Ajax 2-0 over the weekend. Feel old yet? Ruben van Bommel struck with two of four shots and made one tackle to help return a WhoScored rating of 8.59. 

 

1. Savio (Girona) - 9.26 vs Rayo Vallecano 

 

The top rated teenager of the week, Savio scored twice late on as Girona beat Rayo Vallecano 3-0 on Monday night. Savio beat Stole Dimitrievski with both shots and completed four dribbles on his way to a WhoScored rating of 9.26.
