Premier League Team of the Month: Record-equalling Leicester boast four representatives

Here we run through the best WhoScored rated XI from the Premier League for the month of October (3 appearances).

Goalkeeper: Kasper Schmeichel (Leicester) - 7.51 rating

Kasper Schmeichel was practically a spectator in Leicester's record-equalling 9-0 win over Southampton but was still alert when called upon to make three saves and ensure the Foxes kept a clean sheet. The Dane also made six saves in their dramatic 2-1 defeat to Liverpool at the start of the month and three more saves in a 2-1 win over Burnley.

Right-back: Adama Traore (Wolves) - 7.83 rating

Adama Traore has leapfrogged Matt Doherty in the pecking order at Wolves this season, which is no mean feat considering the importance of the Ireland international last term. Traore netted his first goals of the season in Wolves impressive 2-0 win away to Manchester City at the start of October and typically completed 11 dribbles across his three appearances.

Centre-back: Chris Basham (Sheffield United) - 7.48 rating

Sheffield United went unbeaten in October, picking up draws away to Watford and West Ham either side of a home win over Arsenal. They conceded only once in that time and have the joint-best defensive record in the Premier League this season (eight goals conceded). Chris Basham has been integral for the Blades at the back and was particularly impressive in October. The 31-year-old won 14 aerial duels and completed 19 tackles and interceptions combined across three league appearances, as well as making 15 clearances.

Centre-back: Christian Kabasele (Watford) - 7.87 rating

Christian Kabasele's return to the team has certainly helped Watford become better defensively. Watford drew all three of their league games in October and only conceded once in that time. Kabasele was the WhoScored Man of the Match in their 0-0 draw with Sheffield United at the start of the month and his rating did not finish below 7.00 in all three appearances. The 28-year-old had a nose for danger in October, making more clearances than any other player in the Premier League (26).

Left-back: Ben Chilwell (Leicester) - 7.66 rating

Ben Chilwell became the first defender to garner a perfect WhoScred 10 rating in a Premier League match this season in Leicester's stunning 9-0 win over Southampton earlier this month. It proved the best performance of Chilwell's career, as the England international scored once and provided two assists in their demolition job at Saint Mary's.

Right wing: Willian (Chelsea) - 7.99 rating

Willian has rediscovered his best form for Chelsea over the last month and is even ahead of both Christian Pulisic and Callum Hudson-Odoi in the pecking order for places. The Brazilian played a direct hand in three goals in as many league appearances in October (one goal, two assists), while also weighing in with eight tackles and interceptions combined. Furthermore, only one player registered more key passes than Willian in the Premier League in October (9).

Central midfield: James Maddison (Leicester) - 7.75 rating

James Maddison is the third of four Leicester players in our best rated XI. The 22-year-old scored in two of Leicester's three league matches in October, including a scumptious free-kick in their 9-0 victory over Southampton. Maddison also weighed in with seven tackles and completed five dribbles.

Central midfield: David Silva (Manchester City) - 7.82 rating

David Silva finished the month of October with goals in back-to-back matches to help Manchester City cut Liverpool's lead at the top of the Premier League to six points. Silva has scored two goals in his last two matches, more than his first eight league appearances of the season combined (1). The Spaniard also registered five key passes and completed six dribbles across his three league appearances.

Premier League Team of the Month: Record-equalling Leicester boast four representatives

Left wing: Jack Grealish (Aston Villa) - 8.02 rating

After a slow start to the season, Jack Grealish has finally discovered his best form over the last month and is now on the cusp of an England call-up. Grealish, who is our Premier League player of the month, played a direct hand in three goals in as many league appearances in October (two goals, one assist) and was the WhoScored Man of the Match in their 2-1 win over Brighton. Grealish was fouled more times (13) than any other player in the Premier League in October and Dean Smith will hope the injury suffered against Manchester City will not keep him out for too long.

Striker: Tammy Abraham (Chelsea) - 7.59 rating

Tammy Abraham hasn't been at his most prolofic of late but the towering Chelsea striker was still a key player for the club last month, as they won all three of their league outings. Abraham played a direct hand in two goals in that time (one goal, one assist), while also winning 13 aerial duels.

Striker: Jamie Vardy (Leicester) - 7.97 rating

Jamie Vardy scored four goals in three league appearances in October and saved his best display until last after closing off the month with a hat-trick against Southampton. Vardy unsurprisingly picked up a perfect WhoScored 10 rating and rounds off our best rated XI in the Premier League.
