In-demand Kai Havertz among Bundesliga's top performers

Another exciting round of Bundesliga fixtures were played out on Saturday as Bayern Munich re-opened the four-point gap between themselves and second-placed Borussia Dortmund with a 5-2 win over Eintracht Frankfurt. Dortmund themselves had put the pressure on FC Hollywood with their 2-0 win at Wolfsburg, while Bayer Leverkusen leapfrogged Gladbach into third courtesy of a Kai Havertz-inspired 3-1 away win. 

Before turning our attention to Saturday's action, we take a look at the top performer from Friday's Berlin Derby as Hertha earned the bragging rights and then some... 

Hertha Berlin 4-0 Union Berlin - Vedad Ibisevic 

Vedad Ibisevic has made a flying start to the Bundesliga's return with his second WhoScored man of the match award in as many appearances. The experienced striker notched his fifth league goal of the campaign as he opened the scoring early in the second half on Friday night, that coming from his only shot of the game, and turned provider for January arrival Matheus Cunha on the hour mark to put the result beyond doubt as Hertha Berlin made light work of rivals Union Berlin. Freiburg 0-1 Werder Bremen - Jiri Pavlenka 

What a huge result this could prove to be. Werder Bremen played out the final minutes of their trip to Freiburg with 10-men, but held out to secure a hard-fought 1-0 win, ending a seven-match winless run in the process. Now just six points off safety, victory at Freiburg could prove to be just the springboard Werder need to beat the drop and they have goalkeeper Jiri Pavlenka to thank for three crucial points. Indeed, the goalkeeper made a commendable seven saves in a clean-sheet attaining performance to help yield a WhoScored rating of 8.59.

Gladbach 1-3 Bayer Leverkusen - Kai Havertz 

At the other end of the table, Bayer Leverkusen leapfrogged Gladbach into third with a fine 3-1 away win on Saturday afternoon. Kai Havertz was the star of the show, following up his brace at Werder Bremen on Monday night with another two-goal salvo this weekend. The 20-year-old put Bayer Leverkusen ahead after just seven minutes before adding his and his side's second from the spot on the hour mark. That penalty goal could have delivered a first Bundesliga hat-trick of his career having struck the woodwork on the stroke of half time as two of Havertz's four shots hit the back of the net, while two tackles and two key passes helped the youngster to a WhoScored rating of 8.63. 

Wolfsburg 0-2 Borussia Dortmund - Achraf Hakimi 

Borussia Dortmund temporarily moved to within one point of Bayern Munich with a professional 2-0 win at Wolfsburg on Saturday. A wing-back one-two helped Dortmund to a vital victory as Raphael Guerreiro put Lucien Favre's side ahead before Achraf Hakimi doubled their advantage and sealed all three points. The Moroccan was the WhoScored man of the match from the Volkswagen Arena with a WhoScored rating of 7.66 as he hit the back of the net with his only shot on goal, while two key passes, one tackle and one successful dribble contributed to his individual gong. 

Paderborn 1-1 Hoffenheim - Pavel Kaderabek 

Two goals in the opening 10 minutes was enough to see both teams share the spoils as Paderborn did enough to avoid defeat, but still sit nine points from safety. For Hoffenheim, the stalemate extended their winless run to seven matches and they must've felt their rapid start would have helped them to all three points. Robert Skov put Hoffenheim ahead after four points with Pavel Kaderabek providing the assist for the Dane to score. The Czech's assist came from one of four key passes, while four interceptions and one clearance saw Kaderabek walk away from the draw with a WhoScored rating of 8.35. 

Bayern Munich 5-2 Eintracht Frankfurt - Alphonso Davies 

Borussia Dortmund's 2-0 win at Wolfsburg may have ramped up the pressure on Bayern to defeat Eintracht Frankfurt, but they made light work of Adi Hutter's side, running out 5-2 winners on home turf. The game may be best remembered for Martin Hinteregger's hat-trick of sorts, the defender bagging a brace before inadvertently turning the ball into his own net, yet it marked Alphonso Davies' first man of the match performance in the Bundesliga this season. The Canadian provided the assist for Thomas Muller to net on the stroke of half time, before Davies netted his second league goal of the season with an hour on the clock. Returns of three tackles and one interception saw Davies come away from the clash with a WhoScored rating of 8.64.
