Bundesliga round-up: Experienced Hertha striker the star man in best XI

Hertha Berlin maintained their fine start to the season with a comfortable 4-2 win over Gladbach on Saturday as they made it 10 points from 12 available. With four games gone, the capital side remain Bayern Munich’s closest contenders to the title at the top of the table, with Vedad Ibisevic churning out a man of the match display to maintain Hertha’s fine start. 

Ibisevic netted twice from five shots in Hertha’s entertaining 4-2 win at the weekend and won an impressive five aerial duels as the experienced Bosnian forward returned a WhoScored rating of 8.96, that enough to secure the man of the match award and end the weekend as the best-rated player in the Bundesliga. 

Teammate Javairo Dilrosun wasn’t far behind Ibisevic in the best-rated standings as he came away from the win over Gladbach with a WhoScored rating of 8.92. The 20-year-old has started the season in fine fashion having had a direct hand in four goals in three league appearances and impressed on his second league start of the campaign having chipped in with two assists from four key passes and posted a 100% pass success rate in Berlin. 

Ron-Robert Zieler rounds off the top-3 best-rated players of the week in Germany, with the former Leicester man putting in a clean-sheet attaining display to hold Fortuna Dusseldorf to a 0-0 draw. The VfB Stuttgart number one was routinely tested over the 90 minutes, but was equal to every attack he faced as he made seven saves to return a WhoScored rating of 8.52. 

It wasn’t the best of weeks for Fabian Giefer, who gained a lowly WhoScored rating of 5.08 in Augsburg’s 3-2 home defeat to Werder Bremen. The 28-year-old was at fault for Davy Klaassen’s second half goal, that in turn proving decisive as the hosts fell to a loss in an afternoon to forget for the German goalkeeper.
