WhoScored.com is continuing to expand. We are delighted to announce the release of our free app for iPhone, allowing for accessibility to all of our popular products, detailed statistics and latest scores when on the go.
Live Scores
With a scaled down version of the ‘Live Scores’ section on the website, the app allows you, the user, to keep up to date with the latest scores from games happening all around the world. The slider function also means you can browse upcoming fixtures and past results, too.
As with the ‘Live Scores’ segment on the web version of WhoScored.com, there are a plethora of stats available from competitions coverred in detail. Here you can find statistics from the match, formations used, WhoScored ratings and key events during the game, as well as a statistical, on-the-whistle match report using the slider function.
In addition, before kick-off you can view our detailed match previews simply by rotating your handset to landscape and pressing the 'Preview' button, while the same action upon the final whistle will bring up the WhoScored.com team ratings for either side.
In-Game Stats
By clicking on a match WhoScored has covered in detail, you are able to explore all the main stats covered from the match in question. This includes the team stats, such as total shots, shots on target and possession, a look at each team's formation, with WhoScored rating and key events from the game. Here, the user can click on a player from either side and compare their stats from the match, including WhoScored rating, shots and goals. Finally, the match stats section shows the attacks sides, shot directions, shot zones and actions zone, and more, from the game, with each section available via the slide function.
Statistics
Using the menu button in the top right corner of the app, you can access some of the excellent features available, including team and player statistics. The ‘Team Statistics’ page initially brings up the top 10 teams in Europe’s top 5 league as judged by our unique statistically calculated rating system. However, using the dropdown button, the user is able to sort the teams by a wide range of different stats, such as goals, possession and shots per game.
Furthermore, if one clicks on a team through the ‘Team Statistics’ section - Real Madrid, for example - the user can then access individual player stats, ranked first by rating. Like on the ‘Team Statistics’ page, you can then sort by the same range of different stats. With the help of the menu button, the ‘Player Statistics’ page is also accessible. Like the ‘Team Statistics’ page, players from Europe’s top 5 leagues are ranked first by WhoScored rating for the current season, with the same option to sort by a plethora of different data, including WhoScored.com man of the match awards.
Moreover, clicking on a player in question - for example, Cristiano Ronaldo - will bring up individual stats from their league and European matches, coupled with their played positions, recent matches and statistically calculated WhoScored characteristics.
Best XI
Another feature that makes WhoScored.com so unique is the statistically calculated teams of the week, month and season from each of the leagues we cover in detail, as well as the Champions and Europa League and major international tournaments, such as this year's Africa Cup of Nations. Using the menu button, these three XIs are accessible on the go and include the team of the week, month or season from across Europe’s top 5 leagues.
Competitions
It is possible to differentiate between the leagues covered in detail by WhoScored.com on the ‘Competitions’ page and find more stats from the Premier League, La Liga, the Bundesliga and more. Clicking on the Premier League tab, for example, will take the user to the league standings and offer the chance to analyse home and away records, form and streaks using the sub-category selection. By simply rotating your handset to landscape such data can be viewed in even more detail. Using the slider function, similar to the ‘Live Scores’ page, you can also access upcoming fixtures, the best XI from the league in question as well as team and player statistics.
Like on the website, it is possible to add specific leagues to a favourites section on the app. Simply click the 'Competitions' button on the menu and scroll down the country of the league in question - for example, England for the Premier League - and hit the 'star' button on the left. This league will then be added to your favourites at the top of the 'Competitions' page.
Search and Articles
As on the website, the search function is also available on the app. Here the user can search the app for players, teams and competitions.
Meanwhile, articles that appear on the web version of WhoScored.com are also available to read on the go in a mobile friendly design.
