Top Tips on Leicester & Spurs in Tough Premier League Trips

After a stalemate in last week’s betting tip battle with Bookmaker Ratings, we’re aiming to extend our lead as the focus returns to the Premier League this time out.

Taking on BeIN Sports correspondent and the Bookmaker Ratings expert Tancredi Palmeri, we’re choosing a tip for Sunday’s potential title decider as Leicester travel to Manchester United and Monday night’s fierce London derby between Chelsea and Tottenham. With a point awarded for each tip and the standings currently at 8-4 in WhoScored’s favour, it’s time for the battle to recommence.

First up, here are Tancredi’s tips for the two top matches in England’s top-flight this bank holiday weekend.

Manchester United won’t simply bow down just to please all who are waiting for Leicester to win the title. Usually high-profile players are pushed to give more in these apparently humiliating situations, and Man United are still fully in the race for 4th spot with Arsenal and Manchester City, who are both psychologically and physiologically distracted by the Champions League.

The odds on a draw at 3.30 are in fact lower than the odds on a Leicester win.

Chelsea vs Tottenham - read Tancredi’s tip in full here

Chelsea are in the best psychological position facing Tottenham. It’s a derby, and they are motivated not by their own achievements, but by the thought of tarnishing the achievements of their opponents. Spurs’ title dreams are effectively over, but the hosts would love nothing more than to end them for definite. Obviously this fact alone isn’t enough to see Chelsea take three points, but it should lead to an open, attacking game at least, which consequently is the sort of game that Spurs relish.

Given the circumstances surrounding this one, over 2.5 goals, at odds of 1.90, looks a good bet once more.

I’d be happy to back either of Tancredi’s tips this week, particularly given Manchester United’s resilience at home this season. Every week Leicester seem to be written off though, and every week they seem to respond, with this match likely to be a battle of the backlines. The Red Devils have conceded just 7 goals at home all season, while Leicester have kept a clean sheet in 5 of their last 6 games. In such a tough game to call, a draw does seem a likely outcome.

As for Chelsea-Tottenham the game really could go either way. Spurs have a pretty rotten record against the Blues, particularly at Stamford Bridge, and have failed to score in 4 of the last 5 meetings between these sides. Of course, in the other game in that run Tottenham notched 5 goals in an 8-goal thriller, and under the circumstances I certainly see plenty of action at both ends.

Manchester United vs Leicester - full match preview

If there’s one fixture that looks tough to win in order to secure the title right now, it’s a trip to Manchester United. The Red Devils’ current streak of 6 consecutive home victories is the longest of any team in the Premier League all season, but Leicester will certainly pose their hosts problems. 

The Foxes have won at least one half in each of their last 15 league matches, so odds of a repeat of the visitors to come out on top in either half at 2.37 are very tempting indeed. It’s also a good way to avoid a bet on an outright result in a game that is so tough to call.

Chelsea vs Tottenham - full match preview

It’s a long time since Tottenham would have been favourites - albeit slight favourites - to win at Stamford Bridge, but that is the case according to William Hill on Monday. With so much riding on the Leicester result the day before, that may well have an impact on the game, although both sides will be desperate to win regardless, with no love lost between the two. 

Chelsea’s defensive record at home has been terrible since Hiddink took charge, failing to keep a clean sheet in the league at the Bridge since November, so Tottenham will be confident of extending that run. With Dele Alli suspended the pressure will be on Harry Kane even more than usual, with the England international at 2.90 to be Tottenham’s first goalscorer against Chelsea, which has been the case in each of Spurs’ last 3 away games.
