Bellingham shines as Real Madrid duo lead the La Liga Team of the Season

 

 

With nine games of the season left, domestic action pauses to welcome the March International break and as a result we take a look at the best XI from La Liga so far this season with players from Real Madrid, Girona, Athletic Club, Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, Sevilla and Real Betis.  

 

Paulo Gazzaniga (Girona) – 6.88 

 

In goal is Argentinian goalkeeper, Paulo Gazzaniga, who has played every single minute of league action for Girona this season. The former Tottenham stopper has made 90 saves so far, the fourth highest of any keeper, and has kept a total of ten clean sheets this term.  

 

Jules Kounde (Barcelona) – 6.94  

 

The first of two Barcelona full-backs to make the season’s best XI is Jules Kounde. The French defender has been impressive this season, particularly for his passing acumen, and ranks highly for total accurate passes  with just four players having made more than his 1665 thus far. 

 

Loic Bade (Sevilla) – 6.92  

 

Sevilla’s Loic Bade takes the first centre-back spot with a rating of 6.92 for his efforts so far this season. Despite it being a tough season for Sevilla, who sit just a handful of points above the drop zone, the Frenchman has still shone, averaging 2.9 aerial wins and 4.5 clearances per game as well as an 81.6% pass accuracy.  

 

Daley Blind (Girona) – 6.84 

 

Standing alongside Bade in the heart of the defense is former Manchester United defender Daley Blind. Blind has been an integral part in Girona’s fantastic season, which sees them in third just two points behind Barcelona. The 34-year-old continues to demonstrate his composure with a pass accuracy of 89.7%. 


Joao Cancelo (Barcelona) – 7.18  

 

The second Barcelona representative is Joao Cancelo with a rating of 7.18. Despite the Catalan side sitting eight points adrift of leaders Real Madrid, the Portuguese star has been one of the key threats from Xavi’s side. Cancelo has been deployed on both the left and the right in the full back positions and has cause lots of problems going forward, ranking highly (7th) for successful dribbles.


Inaki Williams (Athletic Club) – 7.29 

 

Inaki Williams is enjoying the best season of his career to date with a rating of 7.29. With nine goals under his belt already this season he is just one off equaling his tally of ten from the previous season.

 

Bellingham shines as Real Madrid duo lead the La Liga Team of the Season

 

 

Jude Bellingham (Real Madrid) – 7.78 

 

Since signing for Real Madrid in the summer, Jude Bellingham has taken La Liga by storm. The English midfielder leads the way for goals scored in the league with 16 goals and has provided three assists in 22 appearances since his move from Borussia Dortmund. The 20-year-old has won more player of the match awards (6) than any other player in the league and with a WhoScored.com rating of 7.78, Bellingham is currently the highest rated player in La Liga this season.

 

Isco (Real Betis) – 7.39 

 

The third highest rated player in La Liga this season is Real Betis’ Isco. The Spaniard has been a key creative outlet for Betis and is currently averaging more key passes per game (3) than any other player in La Liga.

 

Savio (Girona) – 7.22 

 

Not only does Savio have eight goals and seven assists to his name so far this season, but he is also one of the top xG overperformers in the league. The future Man City man has outscored his xG by 2.26 goals. He’s looked electric with the ball at his feet and has completed at least 17 more successful dribbles (79) than any other La Liga player.

 

Antoine Griezmann (Atletico Madrid) – 7.29

 

Fifth placed Atletico Madrid’s solo feature in the team of the season so far is their player of the season so far - Antoine Griezmann. The Frenchman has notched 11 goals so far this campaign and is the fourth highest rated player in the league as things stand.


Vinicius Junior (Real Madrid) - 7.50 

 

Second only to teammate Jude Bellingham in terms of league rating this season is Vinicius Junior. Not only has the Brazil forward scored twelve goals this seaspn but he also tops the charts for shots per game (3) and is also the League’s top dribbler with an average of 2.9 per game.
