Grealish and Watkins crush Liverpool to star in Premier League Team of the Week
There were some shock results in the Premier League this weekend as Leicester, Manchester United and Liverpool suffered surprise defeats at the hands of West Ham, Tottenham and Aston Villa, respectively.
The trio all make our fourth Premier League team of the week of the 2020/21 season...
Karl Darlow (Newcastle) - 7.60
Making the Premier League team of the week for the second week running, Karl Darlow may not have been required to put in an all-action display as he did last weekend against Tottenham, but the Newcastle man was still influential in their 3-1 win over Burnley. Darlow made two saves in the victory and won seven aerial duels against the Clarets to come away from the clash with a WhoScored rating of 7.60.
Serge Aurier (Tottenham) - 8.92
On his first Premier League start of the season, Serge Aurier gave Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho a timely reminder of his quality from right-back with a superb showing in their 6-1 win at Manchester United. The Ivorian provided the assist for Son Heung-Min's second, and Spurs' fourth, and grabbed his first league goal of the season early in the second half as he garnered a WhoScored rating of 8.92.
Kurt Zouma (Chelsea) - 8.34
The first of three Chelsea representatives after their 4-0 win over Crystal Palace, Kurt Zouma netted his second league goal of the campaign midway through the second half as the Blues put in a fine second half display to dispatch of their London rivals. The Frenchman scored from one of two shots, while returns of two clearances, one tackle and one interception helped the Blues to a clean sheet.
Aaron Cresswell (West Ham) - 8.79
Joining Zouma at the heart of the defence, Aaron Cresswell put in a man of the match showing as West Ham romped to a 3-0 win at Leicester on Sunday. The left-back-by-trade put in another solid shift at centre-back as he provided assists for Michail Antonio and Pablo Fornals in the first half, picking out a teammate to score with two of four key passes. On top of that, Cresswell made six clearances and two interceptions to land a WhoScored rating of 8.79.
Ben Chilwell (Chelsea) - 9.16
Rounding off the backline is the second Chelsea player in the Premier League team of the week. Ben Chilwell put in a man of the match showing on his Premier League debut for the Blues, landing a WhoScored rating of 9.16. The England international put the west London side ahead shortly after the restart before providing the assist for Kurt Zouma's goal, those coming from respective returns of two shots and three key passes.
James Rodriguez (Everton) - 9.66
What an impact James Rodriguez has had at Goodison Park. The Colombian sensation was the WhoScored man of the match in Everton's 4-2 win over Brighton on Saturday afternoon having netted his second and third league goals of the campaign against the Seagulls. Rodriguez also provided the assist, his second of 2020/21, for compatriot Yerry Mina to net, with those coming from respective returns of four shots and two key passes, while two successful dribbles and a pass success rate 93.9% contributed to a WhoScored rating of 9.66.
John McGinn (Aston Villa) - 9.37
The first of three Aston Villa players to make the grade following their resounding 7-2 win over defending champions Liverpool, John McGinn makes the Premier League team of the week for the second gameweek running as he landed a WhoScored rating of 9.37 against the Reds. McGinn bagged his first goal of the season in the resounding victory to restore Villa's two-goal lead at the time, and he provided the assist for Jack Grealish's second and the Villans' seventh with 15 minutes to go.
Jorginho (Chelsea) - 8.55
The final Chelsea player in the team of the week partners McGinn in midfield. Jorginho bagged his second and third Premier League goals of the season in Chelsea's win over Crystal Palace, both of which came from the penalty spot. The Italian was solid in possession, as is to be expected, finding a teammate with 91.9% of his 74 passes against the Eagles, while three interceptions and one tackle capped a fine showing from the midfielder.
Jack Grealish (Aston Villa) - 10.0
Providing three assists and scoring two goals in Aston Villa's 7-2 win over Liverpool, Jack Grealish became the second player to have a direct hand in five goals in a Premier League match this season after Harry Kane in Tottenham's 5-2 win at Southampton last month. Grealish made five key passes in the victory at Villa Park, while two of his three shots found a way past Adrian as the England international landed a perfect WhoScored 10 rating.
Son Heung-Min (9.42) warrants an honourable mention in the team of the week, but having started the 6-1 win at Manchester United on the left flank, the Tottenham star misses out to Grealish in this XI.
