Hat-trick hero surges into second in Premier League player form rankings

Here we run through all the movers in our top-10 Premier League player form rankings.

10. Chris Wood (Burnley) - Weighted rating 7.46

Burnley earned a handy 2-2 draw with Chelsea on Monday night as Sean Dyche’s “anti-football” landed the Clarets and creditable point at Stamford Bridge. Goals from Jeff Hendrick and Ashley Barnes saw them earn a result, with Chris Wood providing the assist for the latter’s goal. The New Zealander has now had a direct hand in five goals in his last three league outings and features 10th with a WhoScored rating of 7.46.

9. Ryan Fraser (Bournemouth) - Weighted rating 7.51

Ryan Fraser rises to ninth in the form rankings, with his recent performance against Bournemouth pushing a poor outing against Manchester City out of consideration. Two man of the match displays in his last six appearances saw his rating rise to 7.51 having scored two and assisted three in that run.

8. Ilkay Gundogan (Manchester City) - Weighted rating 7.51

Dropping three places in this top 10 is Manchester City’s Ilkay Gundogan, whose 7.51 WhoScored rating of his last six league appearances is enough to make the cut, but he’ll hope to build on that in Wednesday’s Manchester Derby. With his notable outing in City’s 1-0 win over West Ham set to be knocked out of the parameters in his next start, a star showing will ensure he keeps his place in the top 10.

7. Jamie Vardy (Leicester) - Weighted rating 7.54

Keeping his place in seventh after notching his 16th league goal of the season, Jamie Vardy put in another strong showing in Leicester’s 2-2 draw at West Ham at the weekend. The former England international has had a direct hand in seven goals in his last six league appearances, which includes a man of the match performance against Fulham with his WhoScored rating a solid 7.54 in that run.

6. Willy Boly (Wolves) - Weighted rating 7.56

Dropping two spots in the player form rankings, Wolves defender Willy Boly may have played his part in their 0-0 draw with Brighton to put a positive result on the board after back-to-back defeats, yet his WhoScored rating of 7.56 has dropped from 7.57 last week.

5. Roberto Firmino (Liverpool) - Weighted rating 7.59

Roberto Firmino drops out of the top three this week, despite a fine WhoScored rating of 7.59 over his last six league outings. However, that has fallen from 7.66 as the Liverpool star struggled to make an impact in the Reds’ 2-0 win over Cardiff on Sunday to keep their title hopes alive.

4. Kevin De Bruyne (Manchester City) - Weighted rating 7.67

Similarly, Kevin De Bruyne drops from second to fourth in the player form rankings, despite a weighted WhoScored rating of 7.67 in recent outings. The Belgian, though, was forced off in the first half of Manchester City’s 1-0 win over Tottenham on Saturday and it remains to be seen whether he’ll retain his spot in the top 10 when City take on Manchester United on Wednesday night in a crunch clash at Old Trafford.

3. Lucas Digne (Everton) - Weighted rating 7.76

Rising from tenth to third in the player form rankings, Lucas Digne put in a man of the match display as Everton dismantled Manchester United 4-0 on Sunday. The Frenchman netted his fourth league goal of the season for the Toffees as he rifled past David De Gea from distance to help further dent United’s top four hopes and surge into the top three with a WhoScored rating of 7.76.

2. Ayoze Perez (Newcastle) - Weighted rating 7.86

Ayoze Perez was in rampant form for Newcastle as they all-but secured their Premier League status for another season with a 3-1 win over Southampton. The Spaniard surged into second in the form rankings, rising 32 spots, having bagged a hat-trick in the routine win over Saints and boasts a weighted WhoScored rating of 7.86 as Perez ends the campaign strongly.

1. Eden Hazard (Chelsea) - Weighted rating 8.26

Retaining his place atop the form rankings is Chelsea star Eden Hazard, despite the Blues stuttering in their battle to secure a top four spot. The Belgian, though, notched his thirteenth assist of the season in the 2-2 draw with Burnley and while his rating dropped from 8.29 to 8.26, no Premier League player comes close to matching the mercurial Hazard in the top 10 at present.

QUALIFYING RULES

Only ratings taken from each player’s last six league matches are considered, weighted chronologically, with the most recent match carrying greater importance and so on. To qualify each player must have featured in their side’s last league game and started at least six of the last eight available.
