Fanteam Fantasy Football: €100,000 ticket on line for Manchester City vs Chelsea contest
We are going to do something slightly different this weekend. Rather than pick our XI for the €50,000 contest, we have turned out attention to Saturday's match between Manchester City and Chelsea.
There are two buy-in levels for this contest. An entry fee of €11 will give you a chance of winning a share of €1,050, while a buy-in of €55 is for a share of €2,100. However, the greatest prize on offer is a qualifying ticket to next month's World Championship of Online Fantasy Football (WCOFF).
Running over two gameweeks starting on December 28th, Fanteam Fantasy Football users will battle for a guarenteed prize pool of €100,000! The normal buy-in for the WCOFF is set at €1,050 but you can still get a seat at the table without having to pay the big bucks.
From now right up until the start of the WCOFF, Fanteam Fantasy Football will reward players with qualifiying tickets for the final. In this case, you could pay as little as €11 and have a chance to play for a portion of €100,000! But don't take your eye off the ball! You still need to come out victorious in the qualifying contest you have entered, starting with City vs Chelsea.
As we are only looking at one game, the rules are slightly different to the weekly monster. You pick only six players, rather than 11, and have a budget of 55M instead of 100M.
We have gone with a combination of four midfielders and two strikers for City vs Chelsea, as you can see blow. As always, we will offer special analysis for some of our selections.
Sergio Aguero (Manchester City) - 13.8M
Manchester City need to bounce back from their 3-1 defeat to Liverpool before the international break, as they could be as many as 12 points behind the Premier League leaders by the time their game with Chelsea kicks off. As a result, expect Pep Guardiola to go with the players he has complete trust in.
With that, City's club-record goalscorer, Sergio Aguero should be a certainty to lead the line this weekend. The Argentina international scored a hat-trick in this fixture last season and Chelsea are his favourite opponents throughout his illustrious career (15 goals scored).
When analyising the team characteristics of both teams, our match forecast believes it is very likely that City will score as a result of a through ball. Expect Aguero to be latching on the end of one of those and adding to the nine league goals he has already scored this season.
Kevin De Bruyne (Manchester City) - 13.6M
With it statistically suggested City will score as a result of a through ball, you need look no further than Kevin De Bruyne. The Belgium international has nine assists in 11 league matches so far this season and is arguably the best playmaker in the division on current form.
The combination of De Bruyne to Aguero (three goals) is the best assist-to-goalscorer combination in the Premier League this season and that partnership will be key once more for City on Saturday.
Including De Bruyne and Aguero in your Fanteam Fantasy Football XI takes up more than half of your budget for this week's contest but it should be worth it. Both are key to City clawing back the current nine-point difference on Liverpool, starting on Saturday.
Tammy Abraham (Chelsea) - 6.8M
The fact Tammy Abraham is priced at 6.8M shows just how favoured City are to win on Saturday, but Chelsea should not be underestimated by any means. Chelsea have won their last six matches in a row in the Premier League and are the form side in the division.
Not only that, but Chelsea have the best attack away from home in the Premier League this season (18 goals scored). When assessing likely goalscorers for Chelsea, Abraham has to be right at the top of the list. The England international has even outscored Aguero so far this season (10 goals) and seven of those have come on the road this season.
