Bundesliga round-up: Thorgan Hazard is the star man in gameweek 20

Borussia Dortmund are now seven points clear of Bayern Munich at the top of the Bundesliga after the defending champions slipped to a 3-1 defeat to Bayer Leverkusen.

Dortmund could only manage a point with Frankfurt and may now have to pay greater attention to Gladbach, who are up into second, level on points with Bayern, after winning 2-0 away to Schalke. Here we round up the top five WhoScored players from gameweek 20.

5. Janik Haberer (Freiburg) – 8.84 rating

Janik Haberer bagged his first league goal of the campaign in Freiburg’s 2-2 draw away to Stuttgart on Sunday by opening the scoring in the fourth minute. The 24-year-old then turned in a solid defensive performance, completing nine tackles and interceptions combined for the away side. Haberer made seven clearances and also blocked one shot, though it was not enough to help Freiburg secure all three points.

4. Marcel Halstenberg (RB Leipzig) – 8.88 rating

Marcel Halstenberg is one of two RB Leipzig players in the top five WhoScored rated players from gameweek 20. The 27-year-old is going through something of a purple patch of form at the moment, which continued at the weekend with a goal and an assist in a 3-0 win over Hannover. The Germany international provided five key passes in total en route to securing his highest WhoScored rating in a Bundesliga match this season.

3. Alfred Finnbogason (Augsburg) – 9.03 rating

Alfred Finnbogason inspired Augsburg to three points against Mainz with a hat-trick in 76 minutes on Sunday. Finnbogason missed out on a WhoScored 10 rating due to the fact two of his goals were penalties.  The Iceland international had five shots in total, while also creating two goalscoring opportunities for teammates. Finnbogason, 30, now has 10 goals for the season and Augsburg are now three points clear of the relegation play-off spot thanks to him.

2. Willi Orban (RB Leipzig) – 9.09 rating

RB Leipzig have now opened up a five-point gap over fifth place after a routine 3-0 win away to bottom side Hannover. Willi Orban popped up with two goals from centre-back, more than he had managed in his previous 11 league games combined this season (1). The 26-year-old won eight aerial duels in total, while also making three clearances and one interception to help Leipzig keep a clean sheet.

1. Thorgan Hazard (Gladbach) – 9.96 rating

Thorgan Hazard assisted both of Gladbach’s goals in a 2-0 win away to Schalke to take his tally for assists for the season to eight. The 25-year-old has been in mesmerising form in Germany this season and also set a record for dribbles completed in a Bundesliga match this term on Saturday (11). Hazard registered four key passes in total and had two shots to finish the week as the top WhoScored rated player in the Bundesliga.
