Manchester City pair surge into the Premier League form standings

A Manchester City pair are closing in on top spot as Manchester United star Paul Pogba hangs on to first place in the Premier League player form rankings…

10) Eden Hazard (up 58) - 7.49

Rising an astonishing 58 places is Chelsea’s wing wizard Eden Hazard. The Belgian was in sensational form at the weekend as the Blues quickly moved on from their 4-0 loss at Bournemouth with a 5-0 thumping of Huddersfield. Hazard netted twice in the victory and completed a season record 12 dribbles to get the Blues back on track and it’s pushed his WhoScored rating to 7.49 over his last six outings.

9) Marcus Rashford (up 1) - 7.51

Marcus Rashford rattled in a composed finish as Manchester United secured a 1-0 win at the King Power Stadium on Sunday. It was the youngster’s ninth league goal of the season as he rose one place in the Premier League form rankings, with Rashford’s WhoScored rating a notable 7.51 of late.

8) Jan Bednarek (down 1) - 7.69

Dropping to eighth is Southampton centre-back Jan Bednarek. Saints extended their unbeaten run to five leagues matches with a 1-1 draw with Burnley, but it could have been so much better, with the Clarets needing a late Ashley Barnes penalty to salvage a positive result. Bednarek impressed no less, with the 22-year-old mustering a WhoScored rating of 7.69 of late.

7) Joao Moutinho (down 2) - 7.76

Joao Moutinho has now assisted five of the 10 goals Wolves have scored in the last three matches, with the Portuguese playmaker maximising a statistically calculated WhoScored strength of ‘key passes’. However, while his form of late has been good, with Moutinho’s rating rising to 7.76, he has dropped two places in the Premier League form ranking, in part due to the good form of a current Wolves teammate.

6) Josh King (down 3) - 7.78

Josh King was unable to follow up his exceptional display against Chelsea with another star showing at the weekend as Bournemouth fell to a 2-0 defeat at Cardiff on Saturday. As such, his WhoScored rating has dropped to 7.78 over the last six appearances, with the Norwegian also falling three places in the standings.

5) Son Heung-Min (down 3) - 7.80

Edging into the top five, Son Heung-Min was again Tottenham’s hero as he scored late on to secure a 1-0 win over Newcastle in Saturday’s early kick off. His WhoScored rating may have dropped marginally to 7.80, but in the absence of Harry Kane and Dele All, the South Korean has been hugely influential in the final third for Mauricio Pochettino’s side. No less, he’s forced down by the good form of another set of Premier League stars.

4) Sergio Aguero (NQ) - 7.83

A new qualifier in the form standings, Sergio Aguero surges fourth in the player form standings after his hat-trick in Manchester City’s 3-1 win over Arsenal. His man of the match performance in the comprehensive victory has seen the Argentine land a WhoScored rating of 7.83 over his last six Premier League appearances.

3) Raul Jimenez (up 3) - 7.84

After rising 30 places in the midweek Premier League rankings, Raul Jimenez moved up three spots and into the top three after his solid showing at Everton. The Mexican netted his ninth league goal of the season at Goodison Park and means he has had a direct hand in five goals in his last six Premier League outings. With a WhoScored rating of 7.84 in that time, Jimenez pips Aguero to a spot in the top three.

2) Raheem Sterling (up 11) - 7.90

Raheem Sterling provided the assist for Aguero’s second in City’s 3-1 win over Arsenal as his excellent showing against the Gunners pushed him up 11 spots into second in the form rankings. A disappointing performance in the 2-1 loss at Newcastle dented his WhoScored rating, and cost him top spot in the standings, but Sterling’s rating of 7.90 of late is commendable to say the least.

1) Paul Pogba (-) - 7.91

Holding onto top spot by the skin of his teeth is Manchester United star Paul Pogba. A man of the match display in the 1-0 win over Leicester ensured his retained first, but with a WhoScored rating of 7.91, it’s close at the summit. It was his perfectly weighted pass for Marcus Rashford that guaranteed United all three points on Sunday, but the Frenchman will need to up his game at Fulham this weekend if he is to end the gameweek top of the standings.
