Everyday, Football INDEX highlights the five biggest market moves over a 24-hour period. Here are the current five:
1. LUKE SHAW (MANCHESTER UNITED)
Luke Shaw’s Manchester United hell finally looks to be coming to an end. Another his latest public humiliation at the hands of Jose Mourinho, the time has come for Shaw to leave Old Trafford and fulfil his immense potential elsewhere.
It has only been a matter of days since Shaw was hauled off at half-time in United’s 2-0 win over Brighton and Everton, Arsenal, Tottenham and Chelsea are already sniffing around for his signature.
The 22-year-old has failed to win over Mourinho during the Portuguese’s two years at the club and looks to be fighting a losing battle. Interestingly, United have not conceded in Shaw’s last 751 minutes of action on the pitch.
Shaw’s Football INDEX share price has increased 67.42% in the last 24 hours alone and he is certainly worth adding to your portfolios ahead of the summer transfer window madness.
2. JAMIE VARDY (LEICESTER)
With Harry Kane out of the reckoning for England during the international break, Jamie Vardy is favourite over Marcus Rashford and Danny Welbeck to lead the attack against the Netherlands on Friday night.
Vardy is enjoying another impressive season for Leicester and has a rare trait of performing to a higher standard against better opposition compared to when he plays against the so-called lesser teams.
The 31-year-old has scored 17 goals in all competitions this season, but 10 of them have incredibly come against the Premier League’s top six sides after he netted against Chelsea in the FA Cup on Sunday.
While fans may prefer to see Rashford lining up against Holland instead of Vardy, his big game record cannot be understated.
His Football INDEX share price has increased 14.04% in the last 24 hours and he could be worth adding to your portfolios ahead of the international fixtures.
3. SAMAN GHODDOS (OESTERSUNDS FK)
Another player worth adding to your Football INDEX portfolios is Oestersunds star Saman Ghoddos. The Iran international caught the eye of several Premier League sides off the back of his impressing outings against Arsenal in the Europa League earlier this year and will have the chance to showcase his talents on the biggest stage of all this summer: the World Cup.
If you are casting your eye on a player for the long haul, then Ghoddos could prove an inspired option for your Football INDEX portfolios. The 24-year-old’s share price is only £0.74 at the moment, but you’ll have to be quick as it’s already increased 13.02% in the last 24 hours.
4. NELSON SEMEDO (BARCELONA)
News that Nelson Semedo has returned to training has sparked some interest on Football INDEX. The 24-year-old has missed Barcelona’s last five matches in all competitions and will not be risked for Portugal during the international break.
His impending return, however, is of great news to Barcelona head coach Ernesto Valverde, who is targeting the treble in his first year in charge of the Spanish giants.
While Semedo is by no means first choice, his availability will bolster Valverde's defensive options and allow for rotation to keep Sergi Roberto at full fitness for the big matches.
Semedo is unlikely to earn you a big return on Football INDEX but he is expected to feature regularly in the season's conclusion as Barcelona have all but wrapped up the league title already.
5. JOSIP ILICIC (ATALANTA)
While Alejandro Gomez has struggled to turn in the same level of consistency as last season, Josip Ilicic has been more than willing to step up for Atalanta on occasion.
The 30-year-old brought up 10 league goals for the season in the weekend’s 5-0 win away to Verona after netting his first hat-trick since December 2011.
Not only that, but only Suso and Dries Mertens (both 7) have won the WhoScored Man of the Match award more times than Ilicic in Serie A this season (6).
His Football INDEX share price is currently £0.72 after an 11.04% increase in the last 24 hours and he could prove an astute addition to your portfolios for the remainder of the season.
