Crystal Palace eye move for Atletico Madrid target

Crystal Palace are close to securing their Premier League status and already have one eye on summer reinforcements, claim The Daily Mail.

Roy Hodgson wants to bolster his midfield options at the end of the season with Yohan Cabaye set to leave when his current deal expires.

The Eagles have earmarked Leander Dendoncker as a potential target and could move for the versatile Anderlecht midfielder if they fend off relegation.

Palace may fall short in their pursuit of the 23-year-old as Atletico Madrid have a first right of refusal to sign the Belgium international.

Manchester United have previously been linked with the Anderlecht midfielder, who can also play centre-back, while David Moyes was keen to bring the youngster to West Ham in January.

Dendoncker made a name for himself after netting against United in last season’s Europa League knockout stage.

He featured in all six of Anderlecht’s Champions League group matches this season, but endured a tough time in a group alongside Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain.

Only Celtic (18), who completed their group, finished the group phase of the competition conceding more goals than Anderlecht (17).
