West Ham favourites for Manchester City outcast

West Ham have emerged as the frontrunners to sign John Stones from Manchester City this summer, claims The Sun.

Stones is heading for the City exit door at the end of the season with Nathan Ake on the verge of joining from Bournemouth.

The England international joined City during Pep Guardiola's first summer at the club and was expected to be the future for club and country.

However, the 26-year-old's reputation has dipped massively in recent years and Guardiola has finally run out of patience with the error-prone defender.

Stones has been linked with a move away from City all season, with Arsenal among the clubs suggested to be interested in the ball-playing centre-back.

However, West Ham are now the favourites to land Stones in a £20m deal with David Moyes keen on a reunion.

Stones came through at Everton during Moyes time as manager and is now a target for the Hammers to bolster their defensive options.

Of players to have started at least 10 Premier League games this season, Stones has the best pass success rate in the division (94.2%).
