Marseille tried to sign Manchester United outcast Bastian Schweinsteiger at the end of the summer transfer window, according to Canal+, via Bleacher Report.
Schweinsteiger, 32, has been forced to train with the reserves for the foreseeable future by Jose Mourinho and doesn’t have a future at the club.
United are desperate to offload the Germany international from their accounts with the veteran midfielder still left with two years remaining on his existing deal.
Marseille failed to sign Schweinsteiger at the end of the last transfer window and will step up their interest in January.
Since the start of last season United have won 58.6% of their league matches without Schweinsteiger in the starting XI compared to a success rate of 38.5% with him in the team.
