The agent of James Rodriguez has put an end to rumours linking the midfielder with a January move away from Real Madrid after insisting the Chelsea target will not be leaving the club next month.
Rodriguez, 25, has been heavily linked with a move away from Madrid since the end of last season after dropping down the pecking order under Zinedine Zidane.
The Colombia international has even fuelled speculation himself in recent weeks after hinting he could leave Madrid next month, with Chelsea and Juventus interested in his services.
However, the aforementioned suitors may have to put their interest in Rodriguez on hold after his agent, Jorge Mendes, insisted his client would be going no where next month.
“James will not be leaving Madrid in January,” Mendes confirmed to AS.
Alarmingly, only Casemiro (313) and Mariano (35) have been used in fewer minutes of league action for Madrid this season than Rodriguez (377) - Casemiro would have played more had he not been injured.
Despite being afforded little game time it has not effected Rodriguez’s ability to create chances. In fact, of players to have started at least 10 La Liga games in the last three seasons no player has required fewer minutes per key chance created than Rodriguez (1 every 23.1 mins).
