Premier League leaders Chelsea are planning to re-invest the money made from Oscar’s sale to China to sign Monaco midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko and Djibril Sidibe in January, reports The Guardian.
Chelsea are expected to make a staggering £60m from Oscar’s impending move to China when the January transfer window re-opens and Antonio Conte wants to use that money to bolster their chances of winning the Premier League.
The Blues are currently six points clear at the top of the league after winning 11 straight games but Conte is not content with his current squad and has identified Monaco duo Bakayoko and Sidibe as his top targets in the January window.
Bakayoko, 22, has also emerged as a long-term target for Manchester United and Jose Mourinho may be forced to fast-track his interest if Chelsea mount a January bid for the central midfielder.
Monaco, who are now only two points behind Ligue 1 leaders Nice, will not want to lose any of their players in January and it would likely take a monumental bid from any team to prize them away, with Leonardo Jardim’s side also set to face Manchester City in the last 16 of the Champions League.
Sidibe was reportedly close to joining Arsenal in the summer and would allow Conte, who attended Monaco’s clash with Tottenham in the Champions League earlier this season with Chelsea technical director Michael Emenalo, more options on right wingback, where Victor Moses currently plays.
Bakayoko is currently Monaco’s highest rated player in Ligue 1 (7.51), while only two players have won more possession in the midfield this season than the France Under-21 international this season (91).
