Roma want Inter striker Icardi included in deal for Dzeko

Roma are pushing to include Mauro Icardi in a deal that will see Edin Dzeko join Inter this summer, claims Gianluca Di Marzio.

New Inter manager Antonio Conte wants to sign Dzeko after missing out on the former Manchester City striker during his time as Chelsea manager.

Dzeko turned down the chance to join Chelsea only for the Premier League side to sign Olivier Giroud from London rivals Arsenal 18 months ago.

Inter are locked in talks to find an agreement for Dzeko and Roma are trying to include Icardi in the transfer negotiations.

Icardi’s future at Inter is unclear after the Argentina international was stripped of the captaincy midway through last season.

Inter reportedly offered Icardi as a sweetener in a deal to sign Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku but the Premier League outfit rejected the proposed offer.

Icardi is resisting Roma’s advances but may have to consider his future at Inter, with Conte planning to sign at least one new striker this summer.

Neither Dzeko, 33, nor Icardi enjoyed the best of seasons last term, scoring just 20 league goals between them.
