Bayern Munich target agrees new Chelsea deal

Chelsea have made a breakthrough in talks with Callum Hudson-Odoi and agreed a five-year deal worth as much as £150,000-a-week, claims The Daily Mail.

Hudson-Odoi’s current contract is due to expire at the end of the season and the England international has been heavily linked with a move to Bayern Munich in the last six months.

Bayern were willing to make the 18-year-old one of the club’s most expensive ever players in January and had three bids turned down by Chelsea, with the largest topping £35m.

The Bundesliga champions had another offer knocked back this summer before pulling the plug on their interest to focus on other transfer targets.

Hudson-Odoi grew disillusioned by a lack of playing time under Maurizio Sarri at Stamford Bridge last season and looked set to leave the club this summer or on a free next year.

However, Frank Lampard’s appointment as Chelsea manager this summer has persuaded Hudson-Odoi to pledge his long-term future to the club, with an official announcement expected imminently.

Hudson-Odoi is currently recovering from an Achilles tendon injury sustained in April but is on course to make a full recovery by the end of September.

Of players that made at least five appearances in the Europa League last season, only former team-mate Eden Hazard (7.2) completed more dribbles per 90 than Hudson-Odoi (6.5).
