Chelsea are closing in on the signing of Malang Sarr having offered the young defender a five-year deal, reports Telefoot Chaine via GFFN.
The 21-year-old is a free agent following his release from Nice this summer after he elected against signing a new deal with the Ligue 1 side.
Chelsea are in the market for new centre-backs this summer and have made a move for Sarr, who must now OK the deal before his move to west London is sealed.
Sarr has struggled to push on after showing great potential when he broke onto the scene back in 2016, though that has been due to the youngster being played out of position.
Blues boss Frank Lampard already has ample centre-back options to call upon at Stamford Bridge with Kurt Zouma, Antonio Rudiger, Andreas Christensen and Fikayo Tomori all used last season.
However, defence has been a problem position for Chelsea over the last 12 months with Lampard seeking to address the issue this summer.
Indeed, Chelsea are closing in on the signing of Thiago Silva, who, like Sarr, is also a free agent following Sunday's Champions League final.
Sarr made just 16 league starts for Nice last season, returning a WhoSored rating of 6.56 in the process.
