Manchester United forward wants new deal

Juan Mata has revealed he wants to extend his stay at Manchester United beyond the end of the season.

The 29-year-old’s current deal is due to expire at the end of the current campaign and it remains to be seen what future he has at United.

Mata was widely expected to leave United when Jose Mourinho was appointed United boss more than 12 months ago, but the Spain international has established himself as a key player under the Portuguese.

While United are expected to trigger their option in Mata’s contract to a further 12 months, the Spaniard wants to sign a new deal.

“I’m happy here. The club is massive, the support we have is massive. I’ve been settled down in the city since year one,” Mata told ESPN. “Now it’s my fourth year in Manchester.

“You never new what can happen in football and in life. But my feeling now is that I’m happy here and I wouldn’t have any problem continuing here for more time.”
