Barcelona are interested in signing Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany at the end of the season, claims The Sun.
Kompany will only have six months left to run on his current City deal in next month and will be free to discuss a pre-contract agreement with foreign sides.
Pep Guardiola’s side have only held initial talks with Kompany over a new deal but the Belgium international has comfortable about his future.
Kompany has been tipped for a top-ranking job in football after he retires but Barcelona are keen to add his experience to their backline for next season.
Barcelona signed Clement Lenglet from Sevilla last summer and have been heavily linked with Ajax starlet Matthijs de Ligt this season.
However, it has now emerged that Barcelona are also considering a move for Kompany, who would be significantly cheaper than De Ligt.
The 32-year-old has struggled to stay fit for prolonged periods in the last few years and has gradually been forced to the fringes at City this season.
Kompany has only made seven appearances in the Premier League this season and started just four games in that time.
The City captain has started just 21 league games since the start of last season and it would still be a huge shock if he joined Barcelona next summer.
