Inter sign Turkey international

Inter have announced they have signed Fenerbahce defender Caner Erkin on a free transfer.

Erkin, 27, has been heavily linked with a move to Roberto Mancini’s side since the turn of the year and talks with the Serie A giants led to the left-back being dropped by Fenerbahce towards the end of the season.

However, Inter have now got the deal over the line and the Turkey international will join Mancini’s side when his current deal expires with Fenerbahce at the start of next month.

Erkin, who has put pen to paper on a three-year deal with the Nerazzurri, was particularly impressive in the Europa League last season where he proved a real threat from defence.

In fact, no defender to have made more than one appearance in UEFA’s second-string competition averaged more key passes per game than Erkin (2.8).
