Isco has denied speculation suggesting he has agreed to extend his contract with Real Madrid.
The Spain international, who scored a late equaliser in Spain’s 2-2 draw with England on Tuesday, has less than two years remaining on his existing deal and has been heavily linked with a move away from the club since the end of last season.
Isco has dropped down the pecking order since Zinedine Zidane’s arrival as manager and was expected to leave in the summer with a move back to Malaga and interest from Tottenham reported.
The 24-year-old’s situation at Madrid hasn’t really changed this season before incredible claims emerged suggesting he had committed to a new deal at the club, although Isco has now denied that.
“I do not know anything about my [contract] renewal,” Isco told Cadena SER. “I do not think about that a lot because I have time left [on my current deal]. I try to do my job.”
Of players to have started at least 40 matches in the last four La Liga campaigns, only three require fewer minutes per key pass than Isco (1 every 37.1 mins).
