Villarreal poised to complete £12m deal for Manchester City forward

Villarreal are on the verge of signing Manchester City forward Enes Unal in a deal worth £12m, reports The Guardian.

The 20-year-old flew out to Castellon to discuss personal terms with Villarreal after their bid was accepted by City.

Unal joined City in a deal worth £2m from Turkish side Bursaspor in 2015 and is now poised to leave Pep Guardiola’s side without making a single appearance for the club.

The Turkey international does not meet the requirements for a work permit to play in England under the current Home Office regulations and is now set to further his development in Spain.

However, City are aware of how talented the youngster is and have moved to ensure they can bring Unal back to the club if he fulfils his potential after including a £17.5m buy-back clause into their deal with Villarreal.

Unal scored 18 goals and registered three assists for Twente this season, while only Hakim Ziyech (124) and Luuk de Jong (117) attempted more shots on goal in Eredivisie than Unal (107).
