Hertha Berlin make audacious move for Paris Saint-Germain midfielder

Hertha Berlin have rekindled their interest in Julian Draxler and tabled a provisional contract offer to the Paris Saint-Germain midfielder, claims Foot Mercato.

Draxler has endured a torrid spell at PSG since joining the club from Wolfsburg in January 2017 for a reported £35.5m fee.

The Germany international has failed to nail down a regular starting berth in that time and needs to leave in order to find regular playing time ahead of Euro 2021.

Draxler will have 12 months left to run on his current PSG contract this summer and the Ligue 1 champions are expected to cash in on the midfielder rather than lose him for nothing next year.

Bundesliga outfit Hertha made their interest in Draxler clear in January but the 26-year-old was not interested in leaving PSG midway through the season.

Hertha, who have quickly become one of Germany's biggest spenders since recent investment into the club by Lars Windhorst, are now back in talks with Draxler's representatives.

Hertha wrapped up big money deals for Lucas Tousart, Krzysztof Piatek and Matheus Cunha in the winter transfer market and now intend on adding Draxler to their squad.

Draxler has been limited to just seven league starts in 2019/20 and a further four appearances as a substitute. He has failed to score from 13 attempts in that time.
