Arsenal have a drawn up a four-man managerial shortlist in case Arsene Wenger calls time on his career at the end of the season which includes Borussia Dortmund manager Thomas Tuchel, claims The Daily Mirror.
Wenger’s current deal is due to expire at the end of the season and there is now a growing concern from within the club that he will not take the offer of a new two-year deal that has been on the table for some time.
While the Arsenal board are keen for the 67-year-old to extend his 21-year association with the club, they are understandably now putting plans in place so they are prepared to move for Wenger’s successor if that is required.
The four-man shortlist includes Juventus head coach Max Allegri, Bayer Leverkusen coach Roger Schmidt and Monaco’s Leonardo Jardim but is currently being led by Tuchel.
Tuchel has enhanced his reputation as one of the best young managers in Europe since succeeding Jurgen Klopp as Dortmund manager in 2015 and Arsenal have reportedly made discreet enquires about his suitability at the club.
The 43-year-old boosts an impressive win ratio of 65.9% as Dortmund head coach.
