Ceballos does not want permanent move away from Real Madrid
Dani Ceballos accepts he will need to leave Real Madrid this summer but is only interested in a loan move.
The 23-year-old has no place in Zinedine Zidane’s plans for next season and Madrid hoped to sell the midfielder in order to raise needed funds.
Madrid need to balance their books in order to comply with Financial Fair Play (FFP) and continue their stunning spending spree.
The Spanish giants will have made just less than £100m from Marcos Llorente and Mateo Kovacic’s departure once the latter’s permanent move to Chelsea is confirmed.
Zidane wants to complete his summer spending with one big name midfield addition, which leaves no place for Ceballos at Madrid.
Ceballos, who is preparing for the U21 European Championship final with Spain, has been linked with a move to Tottenham but the midfielder has dismissed any chance of a permanent move.
“I don’t want them to sell me,” he Spanish radio station Onda Cero, via AS. “I want to have fun and feel important wherever I am. I’ve got more than enough football in me and next year’s going to be my best ever.”
Ceballos is currently the fourth highest WhoScored rated player at this summer’s U21 European Championships (8.08) and has played a direct hand in four goals in as many appearances.
Furthermore, Ceballos has both completed the most dribbles (13) and the most key passes (12) and the tournament.
