Chelsea €20m away in valuation for Monaco midfielder

Monaco are still holding out for up to €50m (£43.8m) for Tiemoue Bakayoko with Chelsea so far only willing to offer €30m (£26.3m), reports L’Equipe, via Get French Football.

Bakayoko has been earmarked as a top transfer target by Chelsea manager Antonio Conte as he looks to revamp his midfield options ahead of the upcoming season.

Conte’s side have the edge over rivals Manchester United in the race to sign the Monaco midfielder but are still a long way apart in their valuation compared to the Ligue 1 champions.

However, there is a confidence on both sides of the table that a deal will be concluded for the France international but it does require Chelsea to improve on their offer for Leonardo Jardim’s side to accept any terms.

In Ligue 1 last season only Benjamin Andre (214) and Julien Feret (195) won possession in the midfield third more times than Bakayoko (165).
