Arsenal midfielder to make decision on future in the summer

Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere has revealed he will make a decision on his future at the club at the end of the season.

Wilshere, 25, joined Bournemouth on a season-long loan deal at the start of the season after being given the greenlight to leave Arsenal in search of regular first-team football.

The England international has managed to put his injury problems behind him and establish himself as a key player for Bournemouth but his long-term future is still up in the air.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has already made it clear he wants the midfielder to return to the club at the end of the season and even sign a new deal, but Wilshere isn’t as confident as the Frenchman and will wait until the end of the current campaign before deciding what is best for his career.

“My main focus at the minute is on playing for Bournemouth, getting them out of the position they’re in and back to winning ways,” he told Sky Sports. “I’m concentrating on the next three or four months and then I’m not sure what’s going to happen.

When asked if Arsenal had offered him a deal new, he replied: “I leave that to my agent. I’m just concentrating on maintaining my fitness, playing games and I’m enjoying it. As long as I’m here I’m going to enjoy it and help Bournemouth.

"At the end of the season, when I sit down and think about [the future], that will be a big factor [playing regularly]. I need to play, that’s why I came here. Bournemouth gave me that opportunity.

“It’s a big time for this club. They’ve worked really hard to get to the position they are today. We want to maintain our Premier League status and we know it’s going to be a big job. It’s going to be hard but we are up for it.

“At the end of the season, when we see what I’ve done at Bournemouth, I’ll have a couple of weeks off on holiday and then think about it.”

After a slow start to the season Wilshere has managed to rediscover form near his best for Howe’s side. He is yet to score a goal in the Premier League but that hasn’t been without trying. In fact, only Kevin De Bruyne (6) has hit the woodwork more times in the Premier League this season than Wilshere (5).
