United in pole position to sign France superstar

Manchester United are now at the front of the queue to re-sign Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba, according to The Guardian.

The 23-year-old left United for free in 2012 and joined Juventus before developing into one of the best midfielders in the world.

Pogba has been heavily linked with a move away from the Serie A champions in recent years with Real Madrid, Barcelona and Chelsea among those to have been credited with an interest in the France international.

Pep Guardiola had been interested in bringing Pogba to Manchester City this summer but has no ruled out a move for the Frenchman paving the way for United to make their move, with Jose Mourinho keen to bring him back to Old Trafford.

Financial restraints will mean Barcelona cannot afford to meet Juventus’ £78.1m valuation of the midfielder, while Madrid pose United’s biggest threat in their pursuit this summer.
