Manchester United are weighing up a move for Austrian duo David Alaba and Julian Baumgartlinger, reports the Sunday People via the Sunday Mirror.
Jose Mourinho had both players watched during the recent international break in Austria’s fixtures against Republic of Ireland and Slovakia.
The United boss is looking to improve his options on the left side of defence and in midfield, with Alaba and Baumgartlinger now high on his wanted list.
Alaba’s contract with Bayern Munich runs until 2021 and the Bundesliga side are well aware they can command top price for the 24-year-old, who is also attracting interest from La Liga giants Real Madrid.
Baumgartlinger, meanwhile, only moved to Bayer Leverkusen in the summer and penned a four-year deal upon his arrival.
However, that won’t deter Mourinho from demanding United make their move for the 28-year-old, with the Portuguese boss willing to let Bastian Schweinsteiger and Morgan Schneiderlin depart Old Trafford as early as January.
