Inter want midfielder from rivals AC Milan

Inter plan to rekindle their interest in AC Milan midfielder Franck Kessie at the end of the season, reports Gianluca Di Marzio.

Antonio Conte's side wanted to sign Kessie in January to add a greater physical presence in midfield but failed to get a deal over the line.

Milan turned down the chance to take Roberto Gagliardini in a player-swap deal and would ideally not want to hand their closest rivals a player they want.

However, Inter plan to test Milan's resolve once more this summer in an attempt to finally land the Ivory Coast international.

Kessie has spent the last three years at Milan after exploding onto the scene during his maiden campaign with Atalanta in 2016/17.

The 23-year-old has been an ever-present for Milan ever since, raking up 99 Serie A appearances from a possible 107 matches.

Milan have been in exceptional form since the return of football in Italy but have left it too late to push for a top four finish.

Stefano Pioli's side have beaten Roma, Lazio and Juventus in their first five matches back but remain 14 points off fourth with only 21 points left to play for.

Kessie started in all of their aforementioned victories and was even on the scoresheet in Milan's stunning 4-2 win over Juventus on Wednesday night.

Milan were 2-0 down at one point but scored three goals in the space of five-second-half minutes to take the lead, with Kessie equalising for the home side.

The imposing midfielder has a notable dribble success rate of 66.3% in Serie A over the last three seasons, returning 20 goals and assists in that time.
