Promising teen to remain in Italy amidst Premier League interest
AC Milan goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma will remain in Italy, despite interest from Manchester United and Chelsea, reports the Daily Mail.
The 17-year-old is widely regarded as one of the highest rated youth prospects in Europe having established himself as the club's number one following his promotion to first choice shotstopper earlier in the season.
His performances haven't gone unnoticed either, with a host of teams on the continent keeping tabs on Donnarumma.
However, while interest in his signature may be high, Donnarumma is expected to stay at San Siro for next season as he continues his development between the sticks for the Serie A side.
Chelsea had identified the youngster as a potential replacement for Thibaut Courtois, who has been heavily linked with a return to Madrid, with Real Madrid interested.
United had also lined up Donnarumma as a successor for David De Gea, who came close to leaving Old Trafford last summer for Real Madrid.
Donnarumma secured a WhoScored rating of 6.77 in Serie A this campaign, which was enough to secure a place in WhoScored's young team of the season.
Renowned for his shot stopping ability, Donnarumma's 10 saves against Verona earlier in the season was the most in a single Serie A match this term.
