Pedro good enough for any team, says Guardiola

Bayern Munich head coach Pep Guardiola says Barcelona winger Pedro is good enough to play for any team in the world as he continues to be linked with a move to Manchester United.

Pedro’s first-team chances diminished considerably last season following the arrival of Luis Suarez and he has since been heavily linked with a move away, with United favourites to sign the speedy winger.

The 28-year-old was given his Barcelona debut under Guardiola in 2008 and has since gone onto win every trophy imaginable and his former coach believes he is good enough to play for any club in the world.

“He is one of the best players you can imagine,” the former Barca boss is quoted as saying by Sky Sports News. “He has won the European Championship, Champions League, he has played lots of games for Barcelona.

“He can play in any team in the world but I don’t know what the situation is right now, I wish him the best, whether he stays at Barca or he goes. He is a great player.”

According to Spanish newspaper AS, a travelling party of United representatives are currently on their way to Barcelona in an attempt to thrash out a deal for the Spain international before the start of the Premier League this weekend.

United are understandably eager to complete a deal for Barca winger with Angel di Maria’s exit to Paris Saint-Germain thought to be imminent. Since making his first-team debut for the Catalonian outfit, only Lionel Messi (257) has scored more goals than Pedro (58).
