City approach Milan for Donnarumma

Manchester City have made a move for AC Milan goalkeeping sensation Gianluigi Donnarumma.

Donnarumma, 17, has emerged as one of the most exciting talents in European football since making his debut between the sticks for Milan midway through last season.

The Italy international became the youngest ever goalkeeper to start a Serie A game when he was trusted in goal in October 2015 and he has remained Milan’s No.1 goalkeeper ever since.

Donnarumma has understandably attracted suitors from across Europe following the dazzling start he has made to his career after being tipped as Gianluigi Buffon’s successor.

The Juventus goalkeeper has responded to reports linking the teenager with a move to City and has revealed he would offer the youngster some advice, which may not bode well for Pep Guardiola’s side.

“I could say Manchester City are very wise to be making that type of proposal,” Buffon told Sky Italia, via Football italia. “It has to be said, though, Gigio already plays for a glorious club. I’d whisper some brotherly advice in his ear.”

Only Yohann Pele and Thibaut Courtois (both 6) have kept more clean sheets in Europe’s top five leagues this season than Donnarumma (5).
