AC Milan Transfer News: Emerson Royal set to join from Tottenham

AC Milan are closing in on the signing of Emerson Royal from Premier League side Tottenham, reports Fabrizio Romano. 

The 25-year-old made 22 appearances for Spurs last season, but made just 11 league starts across the defence as he struggled to nail down a regular starting spot under Ange Postecoglou. 

The arrival of Archie Gray from Leeds would have limited his game time further for the coming season with the former Barcelona man deemed surplus to requirements. 

AC Milan have been active in the transfer window so far this summer having signed Alvaro Morata, Strahinja Pavlovic and Alex Jimenez from Atletico Madrid, RB Salzburg and Real Madrid, respectively. 

25-year-old Emerson failed to really win over the Spurs faithful during his three years at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. 

The full-back had a number of proposals on the table but was keen to move to the Italian side having reached an agreement on a move back in May. 

Emerson leaves Spurs having returned a WhoScored rating of 6.51 in the Premier League last season.
