Serie A title contenders dominate Team of the Week

Juventus’ staggeringly poor start to the campaign left Max Allegri’s men being ridiculed for the first few months of the season. They have now, however, won their last eight league matches and are only three points off league leaders Inter. Crucial to their return to form has been the performances of summer signing Paulo Dybala.

The Argentina international made the mouth-watering switch from Palermo at the start of the summer, but took his time to adjust to the rigours of the reigning Serie A champions. Dybala wasn’t even a regular in Max Allegri’s team at the start of the season, but he has already developed into an indispensible cog and has almost single handily been responsible for their rise up the table.

Unsurprisingly, the 22-year-old played another lead role in Juventus' comfortable 3-0 win over league strugglers Verona on Wednesday. Dybala opened up the scoring with a sublime free-kick after a matter of minutes to take his goal tally to nine for the season and then provided the assist for Leonardo Bonucci to crash home their second on the stroke of half time.

Dybala’s performance was enough to earn him the WhoScored man of the match award and status as player of the round (9.45 rating). He has also now played a direct hand in 41.9% of Juventus 31 league goals this season (9 goals + 4 assists).

The Argentine is joined in the Team of the Week by teammates Paul Pogba and Bonucci. Pogba was on hand to complete at least four more dribbles than any other player on display at the Juventus Stadium (7) and no player made more key passes than the France superstar (3). The 22-year-old also registered his third assist of the league campaign to allow Simeone Zaza to score his fourth goal in his last 71 minutes of action on the football pitch.
